  1. For one thing, cockatoos in general can be very picky eaters.  It sometimes takes them awhile to develop a taste for some foods.  Just keep offering it several times a week.  He may change his mind about some of it.  Also, try offering it differently , like stringing it on a skewer and hanging it in his cage.  Please read my profile

  2. my bird is also the same way *yellow nape amazon* but i think its because its moist. then again mine likes spagitti but thats the only moist thing h**l eat usually he throws all friut on the floor unless its dried so if u have a food dehydrator i suggest u try it on fruits for it =]

  3. Each bird has a different taste for foods, much like people.  I mean my bird likes meat, cannibul, no!  They all have their likes and dislikes.  Just because your Macaw likes veggies and fruits does not mean you Cockatoo will.   It's nothing serious, just a matter of taste.

  4. My Greys are a little picky.  They prefer everything warm (well other than their seed and pellets).  Sometimes its the shape or size of the veggie/fruit.  If you give them big pieces try smaller.  If you're giving them chunks...try cutting them into strips.  If you're giving them the food cold....try warming it just a bit.  Or finely chop it into another food the do eat.  If they like pasta...sneak some in there.  Don't give up!!  keep trying...its so much better for them to get lots of fresh fruit/veggies.

  5. my parrots dont eat vegtables or fruits either, they love the sun flower seeds and large  big seeds but nothing otherthan that. I dont  know how to trian my birds either. So probably i would say just keep the food in the cage for them, (the fruits etc) they might eat it once they get hungry, also dont keep much of the other seeds around. I mean if they see seeds or fruits they will eat what they like, if you keep just the vegetables they might eat that b/c they have nothing else to eat.

  6. Seed diets kill parrots.  Plain and simple.

It takes years to kill them, but it will.

Parrots in the wild have a diverse diet.

Start letting your parrots eat with you at the table.  They will be curious and be sure you are eating lots of vegies/fruit too.  Let their natural curiosity work and when they come to eat off your plate, let them. While you are eating, speak out how yummy the food is.  You can retrain them to eat healthy and they will live long and healthy lives.

Baby carrots and broccoli usually catch their interest but any vegie and most fruits are good.  No avocado.

They also need Direct sunlight.  Not through glass or a screen.
