my friend asked me to take one of her parrot fish because she was attacking the other parrot fish. i put her in a tank with a goldfish equal to her size, and she almost killed him. why is she doing this and how can i get her to stop? right now she is in her own little tank until i can get a tank separator.

  2. I have no idea but what is a parrotfish?

  3. umm... parrotfish are tropical and goldfish are coolwater. TOTALLY incompatible. besides, its in parotfishs nature to be agressive...

  4. Hi, you can't change nature-not only are they totally incompatible environmentally but a Parrot fish is a tropical predator & you put it with a defenceless coldwater Carp-a Goldfish-what do you expect to happen? You cannot house these 2 types together, a tank separator will not provide the different temperatures these 2 fish need so you will always be keeping at least one of them under temperature induced stress, not to mention the terror of the Goldfish constantly feeling threatened & the frustration of the Parrot fish not able to get to his prey-you need 2 tanks period. Please do your research before taking on creatures-this applies to anything, not just fish.

The link below details good Goldfish care, I'm sorry, I can't provide a suitable Parrot fish resource as I don't keep them but do a Google search & you should find plenty of info-best of luck.

  5. The parrot fish might be aggressive.

Don't bother putting them in the same tank your goldfish

might die.Just keep in a different tank.

  6. Parrot fish come from a mix of Convicts and Severums and some from Red devil cross breeds. all but the severum is violent.

Gold fish with the amount of amonia they produce will kill the other fish unless you outstanding filtration. The parrot fish may be use to having its own tank and well they are territorial so they need they er own space.. hope this helps.
