Part 1- Best midfielders in the Spanish La Liga
Spain’s recent triumph in the World Cup and in the European Championships was mainly due to the fact that Spanish possessed a far more superior midfield when compared to the rest of the world.
The midfielders managed to string together passes with ease and create chances out of nothing. They also dominated most of the ball possession throughout every single game that they played. The reason for the midfield being far better than any other team was because of the quality of midfielders that play in the Spanish La Liga.
Here is a look at the best midfielders in the La Liga. It is unsurprising that most of the players, who made the cut, are from either, Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Jesus Navas
Jesus Navas has been one of the best things to happen to Sevilla in the clubs recent history. He was remarkably good during Spain’s World cup challenge, and he created sparks and magic for Sevilla throughout the seasons that he has been at the club.
He is a natural winger, but he is often played in the midfield from where is just as dangerous. The player never seems to tire and is always looking to give it his all in every minute of every game that he plays. He possesses tremendous pace and can beat a man or two with ease. He whips in some lethal balls that are begging to be put into the back of the net. He is technically gifted in almost every department, some might argue that his heading abilities aren’t as good as they should be, but they fail to realize that the player hardly ever needs to use his head to get the ball away.
He is only 24 years old and developing more every day. He is one of the players who will ensure that Sevilla and Spain manage to stay on the right track in the near future.
Lassana Diarra
The French midfielder, Lassana Diarra or simply known as Lass, has been a consistent threat on the Real Madrid squad. He has always been present defensively and is always rearing to go when on the pitch. He is one of the rare Real Madrid players, who weren’t well renowned super stars before joining the club. The player was signed from Chelsea, where he was constantly falling out of the first team and failed to make a real impact on the squad.
However, over the past couple of seasons, Diarra has emerged as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. He has ruthless tackling and an engine that seems to never tire. He is constantly looking for an opening to win possession back for the team and help launch an attack for the home side.
He has often been referred to as the true successor of Claude Makelele’s throne. He has not yet achieved the same levels of success that Makelele had, but it appears that he will match his records sooner than later.
Diarra has managed to grow more with every season passing by, which means that his best is still to come. It is amazing to think about just how good the player will be in his peak considering how good he is right now.
Diarra might be physically smaller than most players, but he is as tough as they get, he doesn’t mind sticking into a tackle or two and is always found brushing shoulders with the opposition, trying to win the ball back. He is definitely a player every manager would wish played for their team.
