Part 1: Comparison El Classico - Josep Guardiola vs. Jose Mourinho
The battle between these two coaches started last season when Barcelona were not only tied with Inter Milan in the group stages but also the UEFA Champions League semi final. It was Jose Mourinho who later raised his hand up in victory but there was
no doubt that he played a “negative” strategy over the Catalan giants to win the glory for himself.
Many fans say that Jose Mourinho plays negative football as he takes most of his team to defend the goal after scoring one or two for his side and that is what the fans saw during the UEFA Champions League semi final which took place between the Catalan
giants and Inter Milan.
When the Catalan giants visited the San Siro in Italy, the Italian side totally took advantage of their home ground and home crowd and won the game 3-1 deservingly as they managed to give out a great show against the UEFA Champions League winners of
that time. However, when the Italian side was expected to visit the Nou Camp, Barcelona only needed two goals against Mourinho’s Inter Milan in order to qualify for the final match against Bayern Munich and it was to be played in Santiago Bernabeu, the home
of Real Madrid.
Barcelona tried their best to reach the Bernabeu but there was no doubt that Mourinho did his homework and even though his side was reduced to ten men, he easily deployed all his players at the back as the Catalan side kept on attacking on goal. Guardiola’s
side eventually found a goal during the 86th minute when Gerard Pique finished off a great pass from Xavi Hernandez but it was simply too little too late as Inter Milan were ready to save the rest of the attacks that came during the
four minutes that were left in the game.
Jose Mourinho later gave out a statement saying he would never coach Barcelona which hinted towards the fact that he was the perfect man to become a part of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. After being deployed as a manger of the Los Blancos,
Jose Mourinho completely changed things around for them since their last coach; Roberto Pelegrini, who did manage to buy a lot of players, could not really use the star players in order to win games.
Jose Mourinho sold a few players like Van der Vaart and found himself in one of the richest clubs in the world as he managed to buy the German sensation Mesut Ozil along with Sami Khedira from the Bundesliga. He already had a great striking force but
he needed a good winger so he bought Angel Di Maria as well. With the striking force being in good order, Mourinho decided to buy a defender as well and who would do a better job than the Chelsea centre back Ricardo Carvalho. Even though he is at an age where
he might not play all the matches but Mourinho made sure he was not risking his defensive walls and that was the reason why he decided to change things round as Arbeloa was put on bench and it was Carvalho who took his position in the defensive line up of
Real Madrid.
Mourinho was a part of Barcelona once but he totally became anti-Barcelona once he became famous after being a part of the Premier League side Chelsea. He started his career from the Portuguese club Porto and helped them win the UEFA Champions League
as well. Chelsea is the only club that Mourinho couldn’t help win in the Champions League but he has won almost every silverware with the rest of the clubs that he has been a part of.
