Part 1: Predicting the Inter Milan Squad
The five time Italian Champions, Inter Milan, were not expected to win the Champions League during the previous season but their former boss, Jose Mourinho proved to the world that he is definitely a “special one”. Inter Milan (Internazionale Milano) were one of the most successful clubs in the history of the Italian League because of his presence.
Inter Milan have been a part of the Italian League since 1908 and have managed to win three European Cups (Champions League) and eighteen Italian League titles; which is equal to the all time record of their arch rivals, AC Milan. Last year, Inter Milan overcame the odds and managed to win a treble for the first time in the history of Italian football. No Italian team has actually done this before, but Inter Milan were able to do it under their former boss Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho, is known as the special one because he is currently the most successful coach in the history of the game. He has helped many teams during his career, getting them some shiny trophies. If there was a manager who could facilitate the Portuguese team, FC Porto it was definitely him. Jose Mourinho was able to win the best competition in European football, the Champions League; even with a team like Porto.
Last year, Jose Mourinho was appointed by Inter Milan to become their manager. The fans of Inter Milan definitely expected a league title under Jose Mourinho but they never expected them to win the title, the Coppa Italia, and the biggest club trophy in Europe, the Champions League.
During their run in the Champions League, they were able to defeat Chelsea 3-1, during their tie game in the quarter finals. How can anyone forget that Chelsea was the club that Jose Mourinho was coaching before Inter Milan; and this was the first time in three years that an Italian team was able to come out on top after the knock out stages. Later on, they had to face CSKA Moscow when the tournament came down to its last eight.
Inter Milan was able to defeat them 2-0 on aggregate as they advanced to the semi finals. It was a tough tie for the Italian Champions as they had to face the Spanish giants, Barcelona. Jose Mourinho’s side already suffered a loss against the Catalan giants during the group stages but this time, Jose Mourinho had other plans.
During the home leg, the Italian side won the match 3-1 and when they had to face Barcelona at Camp Nou, even though they suffered a 1-0 loss, they still managed to go through with a 3-2 aggregate. The Champions League final was set as Bayern Munich was to face Inter Milan. The Italian Champions won the match 2-0, as Diego Milito netted two goals for his side to win for the Nerazurris.
This time round, things have changed for the Inter Milan as teams like AC Milan and Roma are going to give them a tough time. With a new manager, Rafa Benitez, Inter Milan are definitely going to struggle in the Italian League because Benitez did not really prove himself worthy enough during his last season at the English club Liverpool. The team finished 7th in the league, which is their personal worst. This time round, Inter Milan are not really going to change things and their formation is going to be 4-3-3. Below are the 11 players that are expected to start for the Italian Champions:
Julio Cesar (Goalkeeper):
The Brazilian goalkeeper was simply amazing in the last season as he helped his team win the first treble. In fact, he was so good that the Brazilian coach, Dunga, during the FIFA World Cup 2010, took him as a first choice keeper and started matches with him between the poles. He is currently the number 1 for the Italian Champions and Rafa Benitez can definitely rely on him when it comes to “goal-saving.” He alone is a wall when it comes to defending the goal and he can seriously frustrate the opposition’s strikers. He was the goalkeeper for Inter Milan throughout their wonderful run in the 2009-2010 season and is definitely going to be their goalkeeper this year round.
