Part 1: Schalke 04 vs. Hamburg – German Bundesliga Review
A controversial goal by the former Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruud-van-Nistelrooy-c31966 helped the visitors win as Hamburg were able to sink Shalke in Veltins Arena. The Hamburg coach Armin Veh got a bit of help from the referee K. Kircher as Hamburg were able
to win after a goal by Ruud Van Nistelrooy which looked to be a handball instead. The goal was scored by his hand and head together as the ball went past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 to make it 0-1 for the visitors during the 53rd minute.
The first half was played cautiously by both the teams as they did not want to slip in the mid-table of the German Bundesliga. However, the visitors enjoyed a better first half compared to the home team who looked to be in some sort of pressure.
Anis Ben-Hatira looked to be through on goal with only 9 minutes gone in the first half. However, the Schalke number 1 goal stopper Manuel Neuer made sure that he stopped the ball from going in. Later, during the 26th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gojko-Kacar-c15084 had a
wonderful opportunity to make 0-1 for the visitors. The centre half nodded the ball on goal and Manuel Neuer looked to be off his lines. However, the Schalke midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christoph-Moritz-c9169 managed to stay on the line and made a superb save for the home team.
The visitors almost won a penalty during the 12th minute. It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christoph-Metzelder-c9168 who looked to be
in contact with Pitroipa but later the replays showed that the decision of not awarding the penalty was correct and the match continued with the same pace.
On the other hand, the home team was not doing their best to find the back of the net. The former Real Madrid star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175 all alone in the penalty area and with the ball at his feet,
he barely had any other options but to shoot on goal. However, the Dutchman was never dangerous when he got the ball and it was definitely an off-night for him.
During the first half, Schalke’s best effort came from a deflected cross that found Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The Dutchman struck the ball on time but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Rost-c14103 just did enough to put the ball out and far from danger as he helped his team remain in the game.
With both the teams going into half-time, Schalke were the ones deprived of shots on goal and from the possession of the ball. Hamburg had seen most of the ball and also created most of the opportunities on goal. However, none of the teams had scored and
the first half ended in a goal-less dead lock.
With the teams returning after half-time, the Dutchman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eljero-Elia-c12318 looked to be a threat for the home team. He often found himself alone on the right flank and sometimes sent in great crosses to help the team in scoring goals. However, he was soon taken
off by his manager Armin Veh as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Tesche-c31278 took his position on the pitch.
