Part 2: Almeria vs. Barcelona – Half Time Report
The game was totally one sided after the first half as the Catalan giants were pulling the strings throughout the first 45 minutes. The Spanish Champions showed why they are considered to be the best side in Europe at the moment as they
totally dominated their possession keeping style of play. Not only did Barcelona keep most of the ball, in fact they found all the goals that were scored as well.
It was none other than the Argentinean maestro Lionel Messi who opened the scoring for the Catalan giants and it was in the 17thminute when he played a wonderful one-two with the Spanish goal scoring sensation David Villa. Even
though Lionel Messi was about to fall after a tackle coming from Ortiz, he still stood still made his run and shot the ball into the net right from the edge of the box – simply a sensational goal. There was simply no chance for Diego Alves to stop the ball
from going in as the Catalan Giants took a goal’s lead.
Right after two minutes it was Andres Iniesta who found himself right in front of goal when a deflected ball found its way towards him. Iniesta made a wonderful run inside the box from the left flank and blasted the ball towards David
Villa who was standing inside the penalty area; however, the ball was deflected from the Almeria defence and found Iniesta who made no mistake in planting the ball into the net to double the lead for his side.
With Barcelona leading the game with two goals in only two minutes it was definitely game over for Almeria who had a huge mountain to climb as they are the only side in the Spanish La Liga who still have to beat Barcelona. Barcelona made
sure that they continued this record and it was the Brazilian full back Maxwell who made run from the left flank again and blasted the ball to cross it in towards the strikers. Even though the ball could not find any Barcelona man, it was the Almeria captain
Santiago Acasiete who came in between to block the shot from Maxwell and scored an own goal.
Now Barcelona were leading with three goals and it was definitely impossible for Almeria to beat the defensive walls of Guardiola’s side who were just too strong for them. Even though it was game over for Almeria, it was definitely not
game over for Barcelona as the young defender Andreu Fontas played a wonderful ball towards Pedro Rodriguez who found himself right in front of goal as he made a run forward. The Spanish winger made no mistake in finishing it off as he slowly flicked it away
from the charging Almeria goalkeeper and scored a wonderful goal to make the score line 0-4 in Barcelona’s favour.
The half was still not over and it was only the 37th minute which took the Spanish Giants to 0-5 as Lionel Messi was able to score a brace for his side; however, it did not come without the help of Pedro Rodriguez.
As Pedro found the ball at his feet after a wonderful ball from Xavi Hernandez, he made a wonderful run inside the box and found Lionel Messi who made no mistake in planting the ball into the net to make it obvious that the match belonged only to them along
with the three points.
The first half was full of extraordinary moments which mostly came from Barcelona’s side as the game totally rounded off in the first half when both the teams were to join their coaches in the rest rooms.
