Part 2: Brazil vs. Argentina – Player Analysis
Victor tried his best to keep the shot out but Messi made sure that the Brazilian number 1 doesn’t get there and the goal stood. However, throughout the game Victor was a brick wall for the Brazilian defence. He did an amazing job at the
back while guarding the goal and did deny the Argentineans a lot of opportunities. There was a moment during the match when the Argentinean striker Gonzalo Higuain was offside and he made his way towards Victor in a one-on-one situation. Even though Higuain
took a shot on goal, Victor still managed to pull it out despite the fact that Higuain was later waved offside. The Gremio goalkeeper showed why he was selected for the Brazilian team and showed great reflexes throughout the game. To sum up his performance
– Victor had little to do throughout the game with such a strong defensive line up but whenever the Argentineans got a chance to trouble him, he stood guard for his side even though he conceded in the last minute of the game.
The Brazilian side played a new player on the left flank as a full back – Andre Santos. The Brazilian full back had a fine game but Lionel Messi was the one who played on the right wing and switched places with Angel Di Maria. It was definitely
a hard day for the Brazilian youngster but he did well while trying to be a threat on the left flank. The Argentinean right back Javier Zenetti did trouble him a lot but while combining with the Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, he did a fine job. He was never
under pressure even though he had a big task which was to stop Lionel Messi from making a move forward. Even though he didn’t do much in stopping the Argentinean number 10, he still helped his team by making a move forward from the left flank.
Daniel Alves was the one who got chosen over the FIFA World Cup 2010’s sensation Maicon. The Barcelona full back was the best player on the pitch for the Brazilian side. During the game not only did he help the team in defending the goal,
in fact he was always there up front to help the team take those shots on goals. He was the first one to come closest in scoring a goal as he took a shot from the right flank and couldn’t find the back of the net as the ball struck the cross bar. It was one
of the best opportunities that the Brazilian team had throughout the game and it came with the help of him. He simply showed the world that the Brazilian team can do well without Maicon who was extraordinary during the World Cup but he is not currently performing
well for the Italian side Inter Milan. Daniel Alves did a fine job while playing for the Brazilian side and definitely made a good impression on the head coach Mano Menezes who will definitely like to play him in other games that the Brazilian side is going
to play.
