Part 2: Comparison El Classico - Josep Guardiola vs. Jose Mourinho
Despite the fact that Mourinho couldn’t help the Blues win a European title, he still managed to win a double even though Sir Alex Ferguson was a part of the great Premier League with his side, Manchester United. Later Mourinho changed his side and
joined the Italian team Inter Milan with which he easily managed to win the title four years in a row and helped the team win a treble for the first time in 45 years as he took them on to win the UEFA Champions League.
Mourinho is now trying to retain his European title as he is going to be the first manager to do so and he is also going to be the first manager ever to win the UEFA Champions League with three different teams.
On the other hand, Josep Guardiola became a part of the great Barcelona when the team was at full swing and Frank Rijkaard decided to leave. With Guardiola becoming in charge of the Catalan club, he had everything that a team required; an outstanding
player for each position and a perfect replacement for him.
Guardiola won everything that he had in reach in his first year as he took control of Barcelona and helped them win all the six tournaments that they were a part of during that year. The next year they managed to win four more trophies and now they
are going to be in real competition as he is going to be facing Jose Mourinho at not only local level but in almost every competition.
Guardiola was tested against Sir Alex Ferguson during his first campaign and he easily managed to get away with it as his side not only won the match but also the European trophy that was on stake. Lionel Messi found the goal that he was looking for
against an English side as the Catalan giants won six trophies in total that year.
Josep Guardiola faced Mourinho’s Inter Milan last season and it was Mourinho who came out victorious during the semi final as he helped his team win the game and take the European glory. The Portuguese, famous for his big mouth and cocky attitude,
hailed that feeling of qualifying for the final as the best in his entire career even despite losing the second leg to Barcelona.
This year Guardiola changed a few things around at Barca, selling Zlatan Ibrahimovic to AC Milan and bringing in the Spanish goal scoring sensation David Villa from Valencia. Villa is slowly getting into the Catalan boots and not only is he scoring
goals but he is also gelling in well with the team which relies mostly on team chemistry.
So, who is it going to be this time, Jose Mourinho or Josep Guardiola? Well, only time can answer this question but one thing is for sure both Josep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are one of the best Managers in the world right now and the El-Classico
will be a treat to watch in terms of Guardiola’s tactics and Mourinho’s counter for them. Both Managers will be fighting not only for the bragging rights but also their reputation of being the best managers in the world – right next to Sir Alex Ferguson who
is yet to choose his successor at Manchester United.
