Part 2 – Half time review: El Classico – Barcelona vs. Real Madrid
Barcelona had their fair share of the possession but Real were content to play on the counter attack as in the 15th minute of the encounter, Ronaldo played in Benzema as Abidal cleared the ball as he intercepted the finely timed ball. Barcelona
looks susceptible to the counter attack as Real tried to stretch the play, but the Catalonian giants were too good in the ball in all honesty for the men in white who failed to keep monopolize the ball possession.
Barcelona proved too much yet again as they overpowered the visiting team in the 18th minute yet again. It was Villa who played the ball in this time and his compatriot Pedro who netted Barcelona’s second goal. Marcelo was at fault for the second
goal as he left his man unmarked. It was a fantastic finish by the Spanish striker who was played in by the ex-Valencia man after he went past Sergio Ramos on the left side of attack for Barcelona.
Karim Benzema tried to influence the game in the 20th minute for Real Madrid as he whipped in a cross inside the Barcelona penalty area. However, his cross had too much curl on it as the ball went out of play for a goal kick for the home side.
In the 32nd minute of the match, Victor Valdes and Ronaldo both got booked by the referee for an off the ball tussle after Ronaldo had pushed Pep Guardiola after Barcelona’s coach pushed the ball away when it had gone out for a throw inn for the
men in white.
In the 35th minute of the match, it was Pepe who went into the referee’s book after the Portuguese defender had pulled back Messi’s shirt as the Argentinean was throw in with the ball on towards Real Madrid’s goal. The game turned exceptionally
feisty after Ronaldo’s booking as the referee was stormed by the players from both the sides to get a favourable decision. In the 44th minute of the match, another controversial moment came to the fore as Messi went down near the half way line after
clashing with Carvalho in an off the ball incident, as a result of his antics, Lionel Messi was booked by the referee, shortly after the first half of the match came to an end as the first period ended with the score line ended at 2-0.
