Part 2: Inter Milan vs. Bologna – Italian Serie A Review
With the first half ending, the home team had a two-goal advantage and they also dominated the game in terms of possession and shots on target. It looked to be men against boys as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan were ready to give Bologna a thrashing in the Italian Serie A
fixture.
With the second half starting in the San Siro, the visitors tried to take the game by storm. Their first real effort came early on when Gaston Ramirez played an outstanding through ball towards Henry Gimenez. Gimenez had the Brazilian centre back Lucio in
front of him and he couldn’t get the first touch right. However, he did take his shot on goal but it simply did not have enough power and it was saved by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luca-Castellazzi-c22508.
Later, the Bologna star and their “man-to-watch” http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Di-Vaio-c23689 had his shot on goal. The Bologna man had a free kick right outside the 18-yard box. Di Vaio curled the ball in and it dipped perfectly to find the back of the net but it brushed off the left
pole of Castellzi and went outside for a goal kick. A wonderful opportunity was thrown away by the visitors as this could be the beginning towards a comeback.
However, the comeback wouldn’t be of any use – not if Samuel Eto’o had anything to do about it. During the 62nd minute the Cameroonian sealed the deal for the home team. The former Barcelona star played a wonderful one-two with the Argentinean
striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Milito-c11166. After beating the two centre back, the Inter Milan number 9 curled the ball in towards the goal and found the back of the net as the score line grew to 3-0 for Inter Milan.
It was a memorable night for Javier Zenetti as he made his 519th appearance for the home team and equalled the number with the legendary Inter Milan player Giuseppe Bergomi. Javier Zenetti was the one who tried to get past two Bologna defenders
but won a free kick instead. Samuel Eto’o stepped up to take it as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799 was missing out from the squad. The Cameroonian took his shot on goal and curled the ball into the top corner to make the score line humiliating for the visitors.
Bologna still got a consolation goal later on in the 77th minute. Henry Gimenez was the one who pounced in between the two Inter Milan centre backs and got hold of the loose ball. After making a run into the penalty area, the Bologna striker smashed
it on the roof of the net leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
Later during the game, the Inter Milan legend Javier Zenetti was taken off so that he could get the standing ovation that he deserved for making his 519th appearance for the club. It was definitely a night for him to remember and also for Leonardo
who won his 3rd consecutive Italian Serie A match since taking over. It was also a night to remember for Samuel Eto’o, who again stole the show in the second half by scoring a brace.
