Part 2: Players to watch out for in the UEFA Champions League
The Champions League, is about to kick off. After the draws last night, all teams and players have started preparing themselves, for what is quite possibly the greatest sporting event in the history of football. Here is a look at some of the players who will be looking to impress during the tournament and would be the players the fans should watch out for.
Lionel Messi: Lionel Messi has seemed to be perfect ever since he arrived at Barcelona and every season the player seems to only get better as he progresses. At times its scary to think about just how good the player will be when he is fully matured, considering that he is already quite possibly the best in the world. Messi has been one of the biggest names in the football world, due to his fantastic contributions to Barcelona and his national team over the years.
Messi was one of the biggest names to be heading into the FIFA World Cup 2010. Messi went into the tournament as the current holder of the FIFA World Player of the year trophy.
Messi went into the World Cup as Argentina’s talisman and their coach, Diego Maradonna’s favourite. Messi won the crowds over with his tantalizing skill and pace, however he failed to register any goals. But he was still a huge fan favourtie. Most people assumed that the player just needed some time to get back to his best, but that seemed to not happen.
Messi was also found to be largely missing in Argentina’s match against Germany as well which saw the Argentines get eliminated at the hands of the Germans and end their World Cup hopes and dreams.
Messi will be going into the new season looking to remind everyone just why he was the winner of so many awards. Messi has already scored over a hundred goals for Barcelona and is still one of the youngest players at the team. Messi will be looking to create havoc this season because of the fact that he feels that his title of being the best player in the world is in jeopardy.
The fact that Messi feels that his title of the best player in the world is in jeopardy, can only mean good news for the teams that he plays for. If Messi had been previously performing so tremendously with no pressure or expectations on his shoulders, it can only mean that the player will be looking to break into a league of his own starting this season.
The player has already helped Barcelona turn around the Spanish Super Cup tie. Barcelona were losing to Sevilla by three goals to one on aggregate. But that was before Messi had his way with the team.  Messi scored a hat trick to help his team beat their local rivals and end the tie once and for all. During the game Messi looked like a man with a mission, he was just as good as he had been previously only, he was more focused then he had been before. Most people thought it was impossible to have Messi be more focused but everyone saw it happen and everyone loved every second of it.
The player was close to being perfect. He made almost no mistakes was everywhere and every time he had the ball he was lethal with it. If he can manage to take this same form with him into the Champions League then it is safe to say that the player could be going home with another player of the year trophy by the end of the year.
