Part 2: Predicting the Starting 11 of AC Milan

Since we have already gained an understanding of the club and its history, we definitely know that the players currently playing for the Italian club are not very young and the club will soon require assistance from a younger squad. After buying a new goal keeper,  Allergi is definitely going to require a few more young players to keep the team running. Below are the details of the four defenders who are going to feature in the starting 11 of the team.
Luca Antonini: He is one of those Milan players who are still under the age of 30. Luca Antonini started his career with AC Milan back in 1990 when he was just 8 years old. He joined Milan as a professional first team player at the age of 18 but was sent off on loan time and time again.
In 2003, he was sent to Sampdoria but with only 3 appearances in one year, he was sent out on loan to many different clubs. He then joined Empoli in 2007 and then Milan again after a year, in 2008. Since then he has played 33 games for Milan, which is a pretty decent record for a defender.
Since he is not a very old player, he is definitely going to feature for Milan this season. As the new coach, Allegri is taking charge of the team now, he will definitely give a chance to the younger squad and Luca Antonini, compared to all other players, is definitely young therefore his place in the team is necessary. He has quick feet and he can run on the left flanks to help his team score goals and he also falls back at the defence to assist the defenders.
He is going to be a perfect left back even though he can play on any of the sides but since Milan lacks skill on the left flank when it comes to full backs, Luca Antonini is going to feature as a left back for the Italian club.
Thiago Silva: The Brazilian youngster has been really effective in the Milan jersey. The former Fluminense player joined Milan last year and the group of players who are not at the age of 30. He could not make it to the Brazilian squad in the FIFA World Cup 2010 but after Dunga’s retirement, Thiago was called on International duty and featured for his country as a centre back in the friendly match against USA.
Silva has seen a lot of club football during his short career. He was even a part of Porto once even though he did not feature for the Portuguese club. Silva is famous for his runs upfront to help his team score goals as he can give amazing long balls and can even slip a pass through the opponents defence when he’s moving forward to help his team score goals. With such amazing talent at the back, Allegri is definitely going to feature him as a first team player.
Alessandro Nesta: The legendary Italian defender Nesta has always been known as a “wall of defence,” even when he was a centre back along with the great defender Maldini. He started his career from Lazio but joined Milan in 2002 and became a legendary defender in the Italian club.
He is famous for his amazing aerial capabilities. He can easily win the ball in the air and can tackle the ball away from his opponents with his great reflexes. He is also famous for his set piece headers. He often moves forward in the 18 yard box of the opposition, during the set pieces, and helps his team score goals with the help of his headers.
Being at the ripe age of 34 Alessandro Nesta is going to be retiring pretty soon. But even at such an old age, he is a great defender and is definitely going to be the first choice for the new Milan coach, Allegri.
Gianluco Zambrotta: The 33 year old Italian is amazing at the right flank. The former Barcelona man joined AC Milan in 2008 and is now definitely a key player for the club. The amazing side back has played for three big clubs, Juventus, Barcelona and AC Milan.
He came to Milan for only 2 million Euros but he showed that his worth was way above that. Allegri does not have a better option at the right back position; therefore, Zambrotta is going to feature as a right back for the club this season and the world cup winning Italian is probably going to do wonders at his “specialized” position.
