Part 2: The top impact signings of the summer
The summer transfer window is rapidly nearing a close. Over the course of the last couple of months there have been numerous players going in and out of clubs. Here is a look at some of the transfers that would be making an impact this season. It however remains to be seen if the impact made by these transfers is positive or negative.
Yaya Toure: Yaya Toure earned his shot at fame when he started playing for Barcelona. He was relatively unknown when he joined the team. The only reason people knew of him was because of his brother Kolo Toure who played for Arsenal and then Manchester City.
Toure started playing as a centre back but slowly moved to playing in the midfield.  He managed to gain the love of fans due his consistency and determination. He also brought with him a never say die attitude that was greatly appreciated by everyone at the club.
Toure was a vital part of the Barcelona squad that went on to break all records when they won six titles in a single footballing year. Toure was almost like a pivotal figure in that Barcelona squad. However Toure soon saw himself watching most of the games from the bench. He was even left out of some crucial games like the one’s against Real Madrid and the one’s Barcelona played in the Champions leagues knock out stages.
Toure started to grow frustrated with this treatment and rumours started to float in that the player was on his way out of the club. Manchester City were the only team that showed any signs of interest in the player and it wasn’t long before they signed their man. They made Barcelona and the player an offer that he couldn’t refuse.
Toure is currently the highest paid player in the world, earning around two hundred and forty thousand pounds a week. However what he does is well worth it with the fantastic defensive reinforcement he gives the side. City are a team that are over whelmed with attack options but in Toure they have a world class holding midfielder. If he can manage to hold together the midfield at the Eastlands it is safe to say City will go far this coming season.
Adriano: Adriano was once one of the most well known and feared strikers in the world. After suffering a personal break down the player terminated his contract and headed back to Brazil, where he said he wished to re evaluate his career and his future. After spending a couple of months back home, the player finally decided it was time to put his playing shoes back on.
The team that was first to approach the player was Roma. Who snapped him from Flamengo where the player was re gaining his fitness. Adriano will be looking to storm his way back into the national team and into the fans hearts again. The only way he can manage to do that is by continuing to perform the way he used to at Inter Milan. Adriano has one of the most lethal shots in the world of football and has tremendous upper body strength which makes him the perfect player to play in the Italian league.
He could prove to be the missing link in the Roma side, that has been underperforming for the past couple of season. If Adriano manages to form an understanding with Francesco Totti, then Roma could just happen to have one of the most lethal attacking partner ships in the world of football today.
