Part 3: Javier Mascherano speaks to the press
He was asked whether he felt nice to win at the Nou Camp after a disappointing loss against the newly promoted team, Hercules. He totally turned the question round and said that the reason why he felt obliged was not because the
team lost the previous match but it was because the Spanish La Liga champions always go for the win. He said that the team needs to show the fans and to the world what they are worth and he was happy to be a part of such a team. He also added on to this by
saying that the Sunday match against Atletico Madrid is going to be crucial as they are a tough side that includes players like Kun Aguero and Diego Forlan.
Forlan won the golden ball award in the FIFA World Cup 2010 and showed his talent to the world by taking his side, Uruguay to the semi finals while the Argentinean team’s captain, Javier Mascherano, only made it to the pre quarter
finals and suffered a loss against the Germans. However, it was made clear to the world that it was all Diego Maradona’s fault as his tactics were not good enough for the Argentinean team. In a friendly match against the world champions, Barcelona; Mashcerano’s
side were playing under their new coach Julio Batista and the new coach played a 4-3-2-1 and called up amazingly experienced players like Zenetti, Gabriel Milito and Cambiasso. The Argentinean team totally shocked the world as they won the match 4-1 as Lionel
Messi was also the player who managed to score a goal.
In the Argentinean team, a great friend of Mascherano, Kun Aguero also scored a goal. Aguero also plays in the Spanish La Liga and he is an integral part of the Spanish team Atletico Madrid. Atletico Madrid are the team that Barcelona are going to face next
on Sunday and it was asked from Mascherano, how he felt about all of this. He was also asked whether he had a “chat” with his friend. The press further added on to the question by saying that his friend Aguero performed well against Barcelona last season.
The newly signed Barcelona player, Javier Mascherano said that Aguero is a great friend of his and he has been in contact with him as he arrived to Barcelona. He said that both of them became great friends during the FIFA World
Cup 2010 campaign and he said that since then both of them have been exchanging calls. He praised the player by saying that he is very “experienced” even though he is not very old. Mascherano further added to this by saying that he had suffered playing against
him as his speed is simply unmatchable. Both of them came face to face last season when Mascherano was a part of the English club Liverpool while Aguero played alongside Atletico Madrid. They both came face to face in the Europa League and it was Aguero who
had the last laugh as Atletico Madrid were able to defeat Liverpool in the quarter final clash of both the teams.
Mascherano said that Aguero was not an easy player to defend against and he said that he was a hard player to stop. The former Liverpool man further added to his comments by saying that Aguero was such a player that could easily
turn the cause of the game. However, he said that Barcelona are a great side and if they work hard they can easily defeat Atletico Madrid; a team that carries the golden ball winner Diego Forlan along with the “unstoppable,” Sergio Kun Aguero.
