Part 3: Players that Manchester United should sign
Whenever the transfer window is in full bloom, numerous clubs get linked to numerous players for a variety of reasons. The reasons for the players being linked to a plethora of clubs come about after performances at the World Cup, fantastic seasons in yesteryears or due to the players’ expiring contracts.
Things are no different with Manchester United. Even though United haven’t always been the most active in the transfer window, they have over the past almost always been linked with numerous players. That trend seems to be carrying on this summer as well. Here is a look at some of the players who are rumored to make their way to Old Trafford before the start of the new season.
Wesley Sneijder: A fact that is understood by everyone is that, Manchester United need to start thinking about what they want to do about their midfield in the future. Currently they have some terrific players playing in the middle of Old Trafford, however those players seem to be aging fast and there are no immediate replacements for the players in near sight. The player’s that are being talked about here are Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. The two of them have already become legends at the club and hope to do so for another year or two at the most.
The problem is that the only player who seems to be there to replace one of those two in the future is Anderson. The player hasn’t been very impressive and by no means can ever be the next Ronaldhino as it was earlier believed.
This is where Wesley Sneijder comes into play. The midfielder has managed to hit a source of form that, no one can seem to identify. The player in simple words has been phenomenal for the last year and a half. First he went on to break records in Italian football with Inter Milan. The player won a treble with the team, a treble that had never been won by an Italian team. The player was at the heart of the Inter Milan team that achieved this tremendous record. He was the architect behind almost every goal that the team scored and was easily the player of the season for the team. The player was voted to be the fan favourite and managed to take that form with him into the FIFA World Cup 2010.
No one expected Netherlands to go really far in the World Cup. They expected the age old curse of "always being the best team to never win anything", to strike again. However Sneijder had other plans. The player took it into his own hands to guide Holland all the way to the finals of the FIFA World Cup. The player managed to score five goals and ended up being joint top scorer at the end of the tournament. The player managed to score an astounding number of goals, playing in the midfield. That by anyone’s standards is nothing short of being amazing.
Manchester United could more than definitely use the likes Of Sneijder in their midfield. The player has more than enough experience to start playing in the squad from the get go and is currently only in his mid twenties and would be able to give the team at least another five or six seasons.
The player possesses tremendous technique and can shoot and pass equally as good with both his feet, this is thanks to the fact that Sneijder is ambidextrous. He can also rip apart almost any defensive line up with his piercing and perfectly timed passes. Those passes are something that the likes of Wayne Rooney would love to finish off.
Ferguson would however face a hard battle in front of him in trying to lure the player to Old Trafford considering he has no current intentions of leaving the San Siro.
