Part 3 - Special Feature: Football’s quotes of the week
Sir Alex Ferguson maintains his media charm but this time he takes a more serious road when talking about Rooney. The English national team striker has been out injured for Rooney but there have been reports that United have given
their talismanic forward an extended break due to his personal problems that emerged after it was revealed that he had a physical relationship with a vice girl last season.
Ignoring the tasty rumors, Ferguson spoke exclusively about his striker’s fitness as he said that, Rooney thinks that he is fit because he always thinks he is fit. Such a statement can only sound logical to the 68 year old manager
who has been in charge at United for the past 24 years. Ferguson added that, Rooney’s same approach is the main problem as it means that the ex-Everton man is too willing to play even when he is injured.
Ian Holloway, Blackpool’s manager has been described as a colorful character to say the least. Before his team took the field against Liverpool at Anfield, Blackpool’s manager spoke to the media in an artistic manner as he said
that like any cup of coffee, the cream usually rises to the top. One can mistakenly take Ian’s remarks to be quite tasteful in nature but that is not the case here as he refers to Fernando Torres by elaborating that he hopes that as Liverpool take on his team
at Anfield, the Spanish striker’s lack of form continues.
Fernando Torres’s compatriot Cesc Fabregas is currently injured but he has not been shy of voicing his opinion about Bolton’s style of play as he said that, no Spanish team would play like Bolton. Whether or not this was an insult
to Owen Coyle’s club side is still under review but one thing is for sure, Bolton’s approach did work wonders for them at the Reebok Stadium a couple of weeks ago as they held Manchester United to a two all draw.
Marc Janko makes his debut on the quotes of the week list as he talks about his team’s experiences at the White Hart Lane. F.C Twente took on Tottenham in their UEFA Champions’ League group stage match at the White Hart Lane that
is Hotspur’s home ground. Twente were on the losing end at the conclusion of the encounter but Janko wasn’t going to take the defeat lying down. He told the media after the match, Huddlestone intentionally hit his face with an elbow. He also went onto add
that the young English midfielder smiled at Janko after he noticed that there was blood on the striker’s face.
However, it doesn’t end there as Janko further told the media that when Huddlestone and Van Der Vaart got substituted, Twente thought that they could steal away three points from the match, regardless according to the Austrian
center forward the sad part is that Harry’s team needed help from the referee to get all the three points. Thankfully, Janko doesn’t play in the English Premier League; otherwise we wouldn’t have heard the end of this story.
Before Arsenal took on Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge, Wenger came out and adopted a bullish attitude against Didier Drogba. The long standing Gunners manager told the press that Drogba is a complete striker but Arsenal will stop
him by being efficient. He even stated that he was convinced that his team will achieve the unthinkable on Sunday. However as it turned out, it was Drogba who did all the bullying as he gave his team the lead in the first half to make to take his goal scoring
record against Arsenal to thirteen goals in thirteen games.
