Part 4: Brazil vs. Argentina – Player Analysis
The newly signed Brazilian midfielder Ramires was definitely the second best player for the Brazilian side while performing against Argentina. The Chelsea star managed to control Javier Pastore and Lionel Messi admirably. The Brazilian
star showed quick feet in the centre of the pitch and with the help of his great dribbling techniques and one-touch passing he helped the team keep the possession of the ball.
Not only did he help the team contain the ball but he also won most of the tackles that he slid down for. The Chelsea star made some tough tackles and won the ball for his side to help the team contain possession in the midfield. It was
definitely not a coincidence that the goal actually came after he was substituted for the young Brazilian midfielder Jucilei. Ramires had a fine game while performing for his national side and he definitely impressed the coach as he showed him and the fans
that he is definitely the man who can replace Kaka for the time being, even though he did not really take many shots on goal and performed more of a centre midfield role rather than an attacking midfield role.
The striker who has been under the radar for many Premier League and other teams as well, Neymar was also performing for the Brazilian side. The 18-year-old wasn’t totally silent in the game but there was not too much that he could do
even with such weak centre backs on the Argentinean side. He did make a few opportunities for himself and showed the world the talent he possesses but because of the lack of experience, he couldn’t find the goal because of his poor positioning and it was the
Argentinean number 1 Sergio Romero who won the battle between the two as he didn’t concede a single goal. Neymar tried his best but failed to impress as he couldn’t perform the way he does at club level and it was quiet obvious that the “under-the-spotlight”
striker needs experience at international level.
The Brazilian forward Robinho, who was also wearing the captain’s armband, had a very quiet game. Usually hailed for his amazing dribbling techniques and outstanding through balls along with his superb finishing, the newly signed Milan
striker just could not deliver the way he was expected to. Maybe it was the pressure of being the captain of the team or a different style of play that came in his way, but even with Ronaldinho playing alongside him over the wings, he just couldn’t do what
he was expected to and was definitely a flop for the Brazilian team. He got a wonderful opportunity in the first half in which he could pass the ball on to Neymar and Brazil could easily lead but he chose to go at it himself and Sergio Romero easily pulled
the ball out and saved the day for the Argentinean side.
