Part 5: Brazil vs. Argentina – Player Analysis
The Argentinean centre back Burdisso was all over him and didn’t let him move a muscle even though Burdisso isn’t a first team centre back; under Sergio Batista he managed to impress despite the fact that he was playing against the Brazilian side.
All the football fans around the world definitely respect one man whenever it comes to strikers and that man is the former Barcelona and the current AC Milan winger Ronaldinho. After he was not called up for the FIFA World Cup 2010, it was simply a big
disappointment for the Brazilian winger but once Mano Menezes called him up for the national team, he decided to put all the differences aside and went to Qatar alongside his team to perform at his best.
Despite such an old age, 30-years-old; Ronaldinho was simply outstanding. He justified his selection for the Brazilian team even though he did not give out a “spectacular” performance. He did justice to the number 10 jersey that he was wearing and created
not one but many chances for the Brazilian side. Almost every move that turned out to be positive for the Brazilian team came through his feet and it was in the first half when he had the opportunity to put his side ahead but he decided to please the fans
rather than being pragmatic. Ronaldinho got the ball right in front of the goal with only Romero in his way and the Brazilian number 10 decided to back heel the ball but Romero was there to get hold of the ball in his safe hands.
There were a few substitutes for the Brazilian side as well and it was Douglas who came on for Ronaldinho in the 75th minute. The Gremio winger did not have much time to show his skill on the pitch because during the final minutes of the game,
the Argentinean side was dominating and the ball barely came to the other half.
Jucilei came on for Ramires for the last five minutes of the game and it was definitely not a shock to see that when Ramires left, the Argentineans won the ball in the midfield and took control of the game as Lionel Messi made a wonderful run after a back
heel for Lavezzi and scored a goal to put the Argentinean side in front. Even though it was not his fault that his side conceded a goal but Ramires was playing better than any other player on the pitch and taking the Chelsea man off was simply a bad decision
from the Brazilian coach.
The Dynamo Kiev striker, Andre replaced the Sao Paulo sensation Neymar towards the end of the game. He had little to do when he came on the pitch because there was less time for him to make impact. Even though he got to touch the ball for about five times,
he could not really make a run forward to make the difference for the team and he was often seen passing it back towards the midfielders so that they can create something better.
