Obviously, somewhere there should a brand name (Kenmore, Maytag, Whirlpool, etc).  On the back of the machine there should be a serial number or model number, usually affixed on a small metal plate. Also, the part you are needing will also likely have a serial or part number on it somewhere. I would suggest writting down all the information, and then googling the brand's website or contact phone number, and then calling to see if a replacement part is available, the price, etc.  Also, you could look in your area for used appliances or appliance repairs(particularly helpful if the machine is older and parts are no longer made by the original company).  They may either have the part you need or be able to locate it for you through their networking.  Good luck!
