Question:

Part of my molar is like chipped off?

Okay so i woke up and my molar was chipped. like a corner of it is chipped of and it looks like there was a cavity going up into my molar because theres a line where the chipped part is. So. like what happened? what do they do to fix it? and how much does it cost?

  1. Its a good thing that you haven't had pain!  You have to see a dentist of course that way they can examine it and xray it to see how deep the decay is.  If the decay is not deep then they can rebuild the tooth and you are on your way.  But if the crack on the tooth is big, then you might have to get a crown, and depending on the decay or crack you might have to get a root canal as well.  


  2. The dentist might be able to patch it, or it may require a crown (after the cavity is filled).  With all the stress on molars, they usually get crowns.  The cost varies depending on the material used (amalgam or gold or porcelain), but 500-800 dollars is about average for crowns, I think.

    I woke up once with my eye tooth broken off at the gum line!  Even with regular dentist checkups some things sneak by.

  3. wow, you had a cavity that big and you didnt notice? you should go to your dentist, and they will "re-build" your tooth, it shouldnt cost that much, i would say 400 - 600$
