Part time course outside a levels?

i am currently about 2 start my 2nd year as an a level student at my local 6th form. I have found a part time evening class "basic facial and cosmetic makeup certificate" which id love to do. Now, will I have to pay for this? it says something about 16-19 year olds not having to pay recognised qualifications, but is there a catch? im 17. in fulltime education already. the course is 3 months costs £160. im not illegible for any income support. Will i have to pay? if not i cant do it, in which case ill be gutted :/ please help!! x

  1. You need to give the provider a call and find out.  If it is a government funded course then you probably wont.  Good luck and go you for being so entrepreneurial!!


  2. You shouldn't have to pay for it if you are 17.

    I studied a BTEC in childcare during the day at my local sixth form, then studied a part time course in Russian. (For no reason, I just wanted to learn another language!)

    I didn't have to pay for either course, I started sixth form at 16, left at 18 and like you, I did the course when I was 17 about to go into my second year of the BTEC.

    To be sure, I'd ring up the sixth form and explain your situation, if you have to pay, try checking out a local college rather than sixth form.
