Part3: The Biggest Moves of The Summer - Marouane Chamakh
We saw some dramatic and spectacular transfers take place this transfer window. Some of the best players in the world changed teams and made their way across continents.
Here is a look at some more of the big transfers that took place this summer:
Marouane Chamakh: Arsenal are a team that almost everyone would agree, play some beautiful football. They are a team that manage to produce some spectacular displays of football, every time they take to the field. Arsenal have almost always had a more than decent attacking line up as well. They have had some of the best forwards that the world of football has ever seen, players like Dennis Bergkamp, Ian Wright and Theirry Henry have all set their imprints on the teams history books.
However ever since the departure of Thierry Henry, Arsenal have not had that one forward player who can play in the centre of the pitch up front on his own. Some might argue that Robin Van Persie is just the player to do that job, however the Dutch forward seems to get injured almost every other week. Taking nothing away from the player however, he is still one of the best in the business at what he does and has one of the fiercest left footed drives there are, but his inconsistency and lack of fitness is what is costing him his rise to achieving his true potential.
Arsenal were however presented by an offer before the start of the transfer window that was far too good to refuse. Moroccan born forward, Marouane Chamakh who was playing in Bordeaux, went public with his desire of wanting to play for Arsenal. The player said that he wished to grow and develop as a player and the only place that he could do so, would be at Arsenal.
Almost immediately after the opening of the transfer window, the player made his much awaited move to the North London team. Chamakh was introduced to the Arsenal fan’s during the pre season frendlies and the player did nothing but impress the thousands of people watching his every move.
Chamakh has tremendous footwork and manages to link together countless dribbles with ease and makes them look effortless. His ball retention skills are among the very best. The player stands in at over six feet and is great at holding the ball at his feet. However his best ability is one which most Arsenal players lack. Chamakh is arguably one of the best headers in the modern era of football. If a ball is whopped into the box then nine out of ten times Chamakh will contest for the ball and chances are he would end up scoring.
He already scored a wonderful header against Blackpool this season and Arsenal will be hoping that the player can do the same in the coming months of the season. This added aerial ability that Arsenal now have can make them an even more threatening force and might just be the factor that would help the team go on and finally win some silverware.
