Go buy one. I recommend NiteRider. Their lights are awesome. They have it all figured out. They have things you could never do if you make it "home-made." The lights have a little processor that controls everything. They're awesome. I have 2 of them.

... or did you mean "lighter" - start with the rims and tires - that's the best way to lose weight on the bike.

But the best way is for the rider to lose those extra pounds!
