    The stigma is sticky so that pollen grains will be easily captured by it and start fertilization.......

    Flowers cross fertilize with the help of many factors such as wind, insects, etc. Flowers have pollen that are powdery and are easily carried by wind and insects. When the wind blows, pollen from a flower maybe carried to a different flower and cause fertilization. When an insect feeds on a flower, and pollen stick to it, the insect may carry the pollen from the flower to another flower and may also cause fertilization.....

    Cross Fertilization happens when a pollen from a flower is carried to another flower and cause fertilization. (But I don't know if I'm also referring to cross pollination cause I think it's the same with Cross Fertilization.)
