Question:

Party Favors and Games for Child's 1st Birthday?!?!?

Hello all, my baby boy (my first and only child) turned 1 on Monday and we're having what started out as a small get together, is now a party with over 30 people and there will be more adults than children. The children that will attend range in age from 4 months old to 11 years old! We're using baby Sesame Street characters for the cake and the decor. Anyone have ideas on what would be sensible party favors and games for such a large age range?!?!?

Thanks in advance!

  1. A pinata is definitely the way to entertain the older kids:)   The toddlers will be happy playing with each other and a few toys.  In fact, just give them the empty gift boxes and bows to play with!   ...  A cupcake cake is definitely what you want though.  My daughter has been getting those at Kroger's for my grandkids' parties.  All the cupcakes are moved together, and iced as one giant cake (they DO have Sesame characters they can do).  It looks like a cake, but the kids can pull it apart for easy eating:)   ...   I'd go to a dollar store (or Target has $1 bins near the front doors), and get maybe 3 different things and put them in disposable plastic goodie bags.  You can get different things for the different age groups.   Ring Pops are good for older kids; bubbles; glow sticks; Silly Putty; Play-Doh; big plastic bugs - I've seen all of that stuff at Dollar Tree........

  2. Its  a 1st birthday part for Gods sakes! 1 Yr olds cant do much and the party is supposed to be a party that the kid puts his face in the cake or grabs it with his little fingers and you take a picture. The part is more for you and your friends its not like the baby is getting anything from it.

    You way over did it.

  3. Since this is your baby's first birthday and its a big party, I would advise you to choose a gift for each kid instead of the regular good bag with small things. It doesnt have to be anything expensive. You could go to Walmart or ToysRUs and choose one item for each kid. On my baby's first birthday, I made a list of all kids alongwith their ages, went to ToysRUs and then choose a return gift for each of them. Mine was in the range of 3 - 4$ each. I chose varieties like small board games, magic trick cards for big kids, books for smaller kids, etc.

The above is good if you have time to shop. If not, then just go to Walmart or PartyCity and choose small unique party favors.

You dont have to gift the adults I guess.

  4. My husband and I made pinatas for all the kids instead of goody bags and each child got to smash their own and we put age appropriate lil toys inside such as pencils for the older kids and so on it worked out really well also only give the babies suckers as candy and the older children other candy
