My daughter is in pre-k and the teacher assistant is leaving friday and they want to do something for her. They already made her a book, from which the kids all colored her a picture. Does anyone have any other ideas of what they can do for her or for her party,

She is really sad about leaving but has too,

Thanks,

Nickie

  1. You can take a video camera and have each child record a message for their teacher who is leaving.  You can present the video to the teacher at her party.  The teacher can view the video at anytime after her party to remind her of her class.  An advantage to video is that can capture a child's personality better than in photo or in artwork.  However, you may want to find out first if video/photography is allowed or if you need parental permission.

  2. Ask each family to make a page with their picture and nice things their kids think about her

  3. Well, when i was in preschool many years ago, our teachers had us answer a few cute questions about our moms. the answers are often hillarious. they put the questions and answers in a book. They could ask the kids how old they think the teacher is, what size clothes she wears, what their favorite thing is about her...the answers get really funny. Another idea is a cook book "written" by the kids. It's similar to the idea above, accept the teachers ask "What's your favorite food?" then follow with "how does your mommy make it?" My cousin's teacher did this with the pre-k class and one answer was "Spaghetti. You put the noodles on the stove in water and cook it till 6:00" Which is kinda funny if you started cooking at 12:00noon!! Anyway, it's memorable and very cute!

  4. Most pre-k classes do a lot of songs.  Have the kids do an impromtu performance for her and video tape it so she has it.

  5. For my son's preschool teacher, I took up a collection (a dollar or two from each parent that wanted to participate).  We donated childrens' books to the public library in her honor.  The library has a sticker they put in each book with her name and from the preschool class of 2005.  She seemed very touched.  It doesn't take much planning.  Just buy a nice hardcover book from the bookstore and donate it to the library.

  6. lots of food, music, and crafts (for the little people)

  7. just bring in some cup-cakes and punch the present is already a nice keepsake for her.

  8. When I left my teaching position, one of the mothers bought a big canvas bag and had all the children put their handprints on it-with paint.  She used paint pens to put their names under each hand print.  I still have it and I still use it and it reminds me of so many very special kids.

  9. Pizza, cake and ice cream...that is something that adults and childern will like and eat....if you want music try greg and steve children songs

  10. heres a nice thought, Have Each student bring in one little thing that would remind her of that particular student, something like a fancy old graded Aplus paper that one of the kids had that she graded, or something, then after she opens every gift have a ice cream sundae party, where the kids and the teacher can make up their own sundaes

  11. How about a picture of her and the class framed and decorated by the children. I had to leave a school and I got pictures of all the kids with a drawing on it. I still have it and it is very special to me. Also, most teachers/aides love getting a pedicure/massage gift certificate.

  12. Maybe if anyone has pictures of the teacher in the school or with the children you could put it in a book form (scrapbooking style) and give it to her. If there are pictures of her & the children they could also write a note to her next to their picture with her.

  13. When I left my first pre-school I ever worked at, there was a teacher friend of mine who had the children make me a t - shirt with all of the children's hand prints. I cherished that shirt forever. We had the children use colored permanent markers to outline their hands then each child attempted to write their name and draw a picture around or on their hand print. The effect was very cool and the t-shirt lasted for over 10 years.
