My 5 year old sister is having a party, and she doesn't want to play the usual party games, like musical bumps and stuff. Please suggest some games and websites.

  1. Beans

make up actions to describe beans

broad bean - make yourself round and broad

runner bean - run on the spot

string bean - stretch up to make yourself tall

french bean - strike a pose and say "oooh la-la"

baked bean - stick out your bottom and blow a raspberry

an adult shouts out the type of bean and all children have to strike the appropriate pose - the last one to do so is out, this continues til only 1 child is left the winner

  2. twister, bobbing for apples, or multiplayer Wii games.  or rent one of those adventure land places for a few hours and let them burn off the cake, without trashing the house

  3. hit a Pinyata that is filled with candy and mini toys

get a pic of Donkey and Shrek and pick the tail on Donkey

  4. How about Hot Potato to a popular music?  There are tons of ideas at this site:

  5. One game i saw go down well with slightly older children

Make a large dice using a cardboard box

    buy a bar of chocolate

    a knife and fork

get assorted dressing up clothes - slippers, a dressing gown, a hat - things the kids can put over their existing clothes

the kids sit in a circle and throw the dice in turn - if they throw a six they have to put on all the dressing up clothes and cut a piece of chocolate with the knife and fork.

BUT the other kids carry on throwing the dice and if another 6 is rolled the first kid's turn is finished.

    other favourites

musical chairs or musical bumps (children sit on floor - last one down is out) musical statues (children have to stand still when the music stops and the first one to move is out)

pass the parcel - put small gifts in every layer and make sure each child gets one.

teach them a dance - prize for the best performance

as a kid i remember one where a prize was hidden in the room and all the children had to try to find it - adults would tell you if you were warm(near the prize) or cold (far away) you would get warmer, and warmer until someone got the prize.

  6. let them play what they want to play

  7. Here is a link with some ideas for you -

Hope your sister has a great birthday!

  8. You can wrap a gift in many layers with prizes in between each layer of paper.   The object is to pass the box between the kids as the music plays.  When the music stops whoever has the box removes as much paper as they can before the music starts again.  If they get out a prize it's their's.  So you want to have a tiny prize in a box, wrapped in paper, a prize, paper, a prize paper, another box, etc.  Kids love it!

You can also have bubble gum blowing contests...biggest bubble gets a prize.

  9. Sardines.

That's when everyone looks for one person hiding and when they find them they hide with them, then the last person to still be looking is the next person to hide. Or the classic hide and seek. That keeps me and my friends going for hours and we are teenagers... haha.

  10. Five year olds love to make things.  Some ideas include:

    Let them:

-ice and decorate their own cupcake.

-make their own party hat out of tag-board or face masks out of paper plates, markers, sequins, glue and crayons.  This also makes a good party favor for them to take home.

Lots of others are listed on:

    Best Wishes.

  11. Get a Nintendo Wii. Kids love them!

  12. Get a huge roll of paper and a huge bowl of cheap felt pens then before the party, draw round your daughter  on the paper several times.  At the party, get the kiddies into teams and put the bowl of pens in the middle, give each team a piece of paper with the outline of your daughter and ask them all to colour in, then judge as a competition with small prizes for the winning team!!!  (Especially good for after eating whilst their food goes down!!!)

  13. sleeping lions!

  14. Musical chairs, hot potato, duck duck goose, pin the tail on the donkey, pinatas are always fun, treasure hunt, hide and seek, simon says, three legged race, egg walk race.

red light green light, Mother May I

  15. MUSICAL BUCKETS IS GREAT AND WILL HAVE THE KIDS AND ADULTS IN STITCHES PLAY EXACTLY THE SAME AS MUSICAL CHAIRS ONLY USE BUCKETS.
