My daughter is turning 12 the 20th of this month, and I barely start planning her birthday party. My husband and I want it to be fabulous and want her to be happy with it. So I was wonder what kind of decoration I should get. This isnt really a themed party its kinda random. So I was thinking about balloons and streamers but that is the only thing I can think of. any other decorations??

There is going to be a pool obviously since its summer so what kind of pool toys should there be? I have noodles and beach balls. wait should there be toys cause Im afraid it will take up too much space.

Also, I dont really know what kind of food there should be at the party so help....?

much appreciation!

  1. Well.. There is your theme right there... Pool Party... Now that we have the theme lets think of some invitations, yes?

Put a message in a bottle.

    Thats All I've got... Sorry

Decorations are the most fun part.. They make or break the party.

    personalized beach ball banner

    beach balls

    inflatable pool toys

colorful balloons (Blue mainly... Also bright colored ones)

If you want to go all the way try a tropical luau theme... With the full coconut bikinis and so on...

For centerpiece's if your having tables create a whimsical  centerpiece with a Barbie and Ken in swimsuits. Tie balloons around their hands.

    Now games...

    Limbo... Of course.

    Marco Polo

    water volleyball

    Food.

    popsicles or rainbow sherbet

    lemonade

    Watermellon

    Hawian Pizza

    Fun Favors

    sunglasses

    beach balls

    sun visors

    water squirters

  2. year just put streamers everywhere haha. and just make everythging random but dont over do it, u dont want her friends 2 be like WTF??

well maybe those floaty chair things? haha i <3 those (4 the pool)

and the food, we what about shrimp cocktail, ? pretty good stuff

  3. There's lots you can!

I would keep the beach balls, the kids will play with them!

I would get some lounge chairs and some waterproof cushions and set them around the pool so when the kids aren't swimming it becomes a lounge area for them.

I would get an inflatable boat, fill it with ice and put the drinks in there.  Water, soda, juice etc.  You CAN float it in the pool, BUT you would have to warn them that the tops WILL break the filter if they throw them in the pool and you'll have make sure they put the tops of the bottles back in the boat!  You would REALLY have to make sure that they do this and that all tops of the drinks go back in the boat.  Otherwise, leave it on the pool deck so it there when they want drinks, but again, tell them all tops go back in the boat!

For food, do whatever is your daughter's favorite food.  It's her birthday and her party and forget the theme, it should be about the food she loves!  If it's pizza, do that, if it's tacos, do a taco bar, if it's bbq, do burgers and hot dogs.  Ask her what food she would like to have and what's her favorite and do that for the food and snacks.

Set up an ice cream bar.  Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and whatever else is your daughter's favorite and some toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and marachino cherries and have them make their own sundaes.  You can get the plastic sundae glasses at the dollar store or the waffle cone bowls at the grocery store.

For games, you can do relay races like potato sack races (use old pillow cases), three legged races, wheelbarrel races, etc.

Set up a volleyball net and let them play volleyball and badmitten.

Get an inflatable kiddie pool (it's softer), fill it with water, break them into 2 teams and have a tug of war, the losing team ends up in the pool!

Have a pie eating contest, BUT instead of pie, fill the tins with whipped cream, whoever finishes first wins!

Get a pinata.  You can get the ones they break open or the ones they pull the string to open and in the party store in the same aisle they have what's called pinata filler, they're just big bags of candy to fill them with, and there's still room to add some of her own favorites.  Just make sure to write the children's names in sharpie marker on their bags so no one is fighting over bags at the end of the party, I've had this happen, and writing names on bags HELPS and avoids this problem altogether!!

There's another game call pass the ball, the kids stand in a circle and the toss the ball to each other, it doesn't matter the order it's being tossed in,  but the object of the game is to keep the ball IN the air!  Whoever drops the ball is OUT of the game!  Whoever is left standing at the end of game that didn't drop the ball wins, you keep playing until there's one person left!

Another game, if it's all girls, is they stand in a circle with either their hands behind their backs or at their sides, but they can NOT use their hands and they put the ball under their chin and have to pass the ball to each other with ONLY their chin!  The person passing the ball uses only her chin and the person taking the ball uses only her chin to take the ball, whoever drops the ball is OUT, and at the end of the game, whoever is left standing, wins!  This game is hysterical to watch too!

For decorations, decorate in your daughter's favorite colors.  You don't have to have a theme, if her favorite color is pink, do balloons in pink and white and the streamers too.  If it's blue, do blues and whites.  You can do different tones of the same color and add either another color in there and white too.

If the kids are going to be there until the sun goes down, hang some clear, stringed Christmas lights around the party area.  It will look SO nice and add to the festive party atmosphere.  Instead of having the blaring overhead lights on at night, you can have the stringed lights and they'll look like twinkle lights and SO pretty, she'll LOVE it!!

I hope some of these ideas help and that your daughter has a great party and a very Happy Birthday!!
