Party ideas for 24th bday (woman)?

It'll be my 24th bday in a couple of weeks' time and I've just moved into a new place with a new job. Also, I've joined a singles group (guys n gals) in my parish, so I want to have like a party with new-found friends at my place (around 25-30 people). What would be good as finger foods & main course? Should I cook or just cater (if I cook, a couple of people can help me out). Also, some ideas please on drinks (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic). The guests will be from ages 22-30. Thnx in advance ;)

  1. at yur age anything is good I love a luau but also just a hang out type were people come over and talk! catering is easier because practically nothing can go wrong and its believe it or not cheaper because if you cook you have to buy food, gas to go and buy the food, and there is and electricity bill! for drinks you can have assorted pops like pepsi, andsprite, with some beer and wine.

  2. have a pot luck party everyone brings their personal favorite dish and then that is also a great icebreaker guess who brought what to the party...

  3. A luau is always a fun idea for a party. You could even have a "tiki bar" in your living room. There are lots of festive, tropical drinks you could make with or without alcohol. Encourage people to dress up and pass out leis as people arrive. Hold a hilarious hula dancing contest (for the MEN!!!) That would be unexpected. Good luck & happy bday!

  4. You could have a buffet-style taco/fahita bar.  Have ground beef fried up and in a bowl (or a slow cooker to keep it hot) and all the fixings on the side (sour cream, salsa, guacamole, lettace, cheese, diced tomatos).

    - veggie and fruit platters

    - bread and spinach dip

    - mini sandwiches

    - devilled eggs

    - potato salad

    - pasta salad

Drinks:  pop, beer, wine, coolers, water
