Question:

Party munchies?

I'm having my sons whole class over for his 7th birthday. We are having a bbq so the kids can have sausage hot dogs and the adults can have burgers for lunch... but what can I put on the table for nibbles during the day for the kids and parents? This is my first big birthday I've done for him so I'm a bit lost. Also, since we are having a jumping castle, should I still do mini party games, or just let them run themselves ragged on the castle?

  1. EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAID! :)

Munchies Cheese Fix or another kind of Munchies mix (I like cheese best).

    Cheese Doritos

    Cheetos

    Pretzels

    Cheese sun chips

  2. I would have a choice of hot dogs or hamburger for lunch.(so people can have what they want)

    Munchies for parties

    goldfish

    veggie tray(adults)

    fruit slices (watermelon,oranges,apples)

    chips and dip.

    homemade cookie(after lunch)

I would still do different actives for the kids because only like 5 people can go into the jumping castle at the same time.

Here are some ideas be side the jumping castle to keep the kids occupied

If its hot let the kids run through a sprinkler or do water balloon games.

Do games like like really races and what  team come in first each kid get small prizes under 8$

I hope your kid has a good birthday party.

  3. I don't know that I would keep out a whole lot of food during the party.   I think that I would have the hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, chips like doritos, plain, BBQ flavored, a veggie tray with dip.    Maybe some fresh fruit (melons, grapes, pineapple, strawberries).       After the meal, if you wanted to leave the chips out, that'd be ok, but I wouldn't do much else.

I think that  a Slip & Slide would be a fun addition since only a limited number of people can jump in the bounce house.

Get a small plastic swimming pool and some water guns and let them play in the water.   Buy some balloons for a water balloon fight.

Since you are renting a jump house, you could also rent an industrial sized sno cone maker.   The syrups to flavor them are pretty cheap and go a long way.   Kids love them and think they're really neat.

A pinata would be a fun idea.

Have a limbo stick, just in case.   Any old stick will do (mine is a mop handle w/ the hardware removed).   Sometimes I decorate with streamers and other times I don't.    Kids LOVE limbo for some odd reason.    It's a good, cheap, simple entertainer.

I think that treat bags are kind of on the way out.   The last few parties my kids attended, there were no treat bags.    Usually, the kids don't really care about the junk and they can get expensive.    You could get some helium latex filled balloons and give each guest a balloon when they leave.

    Relax and have fun.

  4. Chips and dip are always great and maybe even a veggie tray to go with the dip for adults.  Skip the mini games and let them run ragged.  Have fun!

  5. Instead of doritos I used different flavors of sun chips for my step daughter's 6th bday.  I also had Goldfish (they come in different flavors too) and some cookies (coconut since her party was a luau theme).  Chips and dip sounds good as well as a veggie tray for the adults, but keep in mind what kind of mess the kids can create with it.  I'd do a couple games or a pinata to go with the jumper castle (since only a certain number are allowed in at a time, then everyone has something to do).  Hope this helps.

  6. Oooh, fun! Chips and dip, as previously mentioned is a great option, along with a veggie tray. Instead of having activities, I'd just throw out a huge pot filled with water balloons to their free access! Good luck! Oh also... Cheetos, Funyuns, BBQ chips, Sour Cream & Onion... all different types of chips the kids may like. Again, good luck!

  7. Try tortilla chips and get some dips for the kids. But for the adults you might want to try some exotic dips from a store or some that you made yourself. People will surprised and food is always a good conversation starter. OH... Try cheese and crackers for both adults and kids... try specialty cheeses for the adults too.

As for activites.... the jumping castle is enough.

  8. a veggie platter is a good idea.

    a cheese tray

    a fruit tray

  9. Doritos. Many flavors and I've never met anyone who doesn't like them. Stick to original and Ranch flavors.
