So my friend just found out she is pregnant.. she thinks about 10 weeks and she's worried because we've been out nearly every weekend drinking, and shes smoked weed on occasion. Of course now she is refusing to go anywhere and is very freaked out about if she's had any damage on the baby.. do you think anything has affected it?

  1. well 10 weeks.. hmm i was 1 month when i found out i was pregnant.. and i had drank about every other day an enourmous amount.. like a fifth of patron... or a fifth of jack.. or a fifth of jose on all of those days... like 10 shots with my friends... my baby is just fine and my doc said eerything seems good.. of course she is almost 3 momthes pregnant and that is pretty far.. her first trimester is almost over... she really wont know if the baby could be born with fetal alchol syndrom until its born although at the ultra sound there are a few things that could link the possiblty to it.. also there are some tests she can ask to have done to see if there are certain things wrong with the baby... but there is always a risk in those and about 1 out of every 100 woman have a miscarriage after the test... i am pro choice with abortion and if she is not ready to take care of the baby then she could have an abortion or give it up for adoption... good luck to her!

  2. It's a possibility, but lots of people do things they shouldn't when they don't realize they are preg. She is doing the best thing and claming down her life style, as she should. Now she needs to put her health and the babies as a a #1 priority!!!!

  3. possibly but not always. tell her to not do any kind of drinking or smoking now that shes sure. the first trimester is the most important because its the time that your baby is devolping. but i am 13 weeks and i didn't know at first and i did the same things i just went to the doctor yesterday and the baby is healthy so just make sure she stops doing those things while shes pregnant, and if she breastfeeds, but her baby should be okay.

  4. She hasn't done anything that women before her haven't. We've all had a glass of wine or a bottle of beer in early pregnancy without knowing. I smoked pot with some friends in the early stages before I knew and it doesn't effect the baby as long as she's stopped now.

It shouldn't prevent her from going out and having fun. You can still have just as much fun drinking water or juice!

  5. Hard to say. But i know a lot of my friends were smokers and quite regular drinkers (no pot though) when they found out they were pregnant.  Of course they all stopped smoking and or drinking the moment they found out and none of them ever had any problems.  Totally perfectly healthy babies!  With that said you never know how or what or when things are going to effect the baby.  There is nothing she can do about those 10 weeks now.  All she can do is take care of herself for the duration of her pregnancy.

  6. I found out at 8 weeks that i was pregnant i did the same thing i partied pretty hard. i was on vacation for a portion of that drinking more than usual and so far my doctor says the baby is fine as far as he can tell. like someone else said she hasn't done anything that women before her haven't what's important is that now that she knows she stops.
