Parupalli Kashyap confident to deliver a better performance at the 2011 World Championships
India’s Men’s Singles ace shuttler, Parupalli Kashyap, is confident to earn good results at the 2011 World Championships, which are set to begin from August 8, at the Wembley Arena in London, England.
Kashyap, who is currently placed at Number 28 in the world rankings of Men’s Singles, has found a favourable draw as he will not face any of the top-five shuttlers until the quarter-final of the tournament.
He is currently working hard in the training sessions to become well prepared for the mega event. He is in good shape at the moment and is optimistic to perform up to the expectations of his fans in the meet. He has been playing wonderful badminton for the
last seven months and the spirited Indian is looking forward to make his presence felt by making an upset in the tournament.
Speaking about his plans for the event, Kashyap said, “It is a big event and everybody would be well-prepared, dreaming to play well. I don't want to think about the second round or third round. For me, first round is the only thing which I am focusing on
right now.”
While talking about the Men’s Singles draw of the World Championships, Kashyap added, “I have seen the draw, it is okay. It is not the toughest I have faced but also not the easiest either. There are some good players, I have beaten them in the past so ideally
I should reach at least the quarters but it is a big event and I don't want to think too much."
At the World Championships, Kashyap will face Dieter Domke of Germany in the first round. If he passes the first hurdle, he will then take on Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh, who clinched the Men’s Singles title at the 2011 US Open Grand Prix Gold, last month.
Kashyap is focusing on different aspects of his game and is trying to improve his technique by working on the weaknesses he has been suffering from. It is a golden opportunity for the Indian shuttler to shine at the world stage, as he has found a decent
draw in the mega event.
