Parupalli Kashyap loses to Yuhan Tan in semi-final of Austrian International Challenge 2012
Yuhan Tan put Indian expedition to halt in men’s singles department as India’s solo hope Parupalli Kashyap lost in semi-final of the Austrian International Challenge 2012 today.
The top seeded Indian shuttler P. Kashyap was completely outclassed in all the departments of the game by Yuhan Tan of Belgium and this clash of the titans ended with Yuhan rising as victor by registering final score of 21-16 and 21-16.
The Belgium’s shuttler took the game to new heights as Kashyap had no answer to his technical and tactical attack and Indian defence last for just 34 minutes.
The Indian ace World Number 31 P. Kashyap won the spot in semi-final by beating Zi Liang Derek of Singapore in the quarter-final with a convincing score of 21-16 and 21-15.
Meanwhile, the second semi-finalist Yuhan Tan edged Ville Lang of Finland yesterday and ensured his presence in top 4 after an exhausting fight of 21-16, 10-21 and 21-19.
The Belgium’s shuttler Yuhan Tan, who is currently ranked 56 in men’s singles world ranking, excelled in very first set when he smashed Kashyap with a notable margin of 21-16. The Indian tried to get out of the deficit but he could not control the pace of
rally and Yuhan took the game away from him.
The Belgian in-form shuttler looked in supreme touch in second set also as he pushed veteran Kashyap to all the corners of the court.
The Indian shuttler lost grip in second set and trailed far behind his rival on the scoreboard again. The second set turned out last nail in the coffin as Yuhan buried his challenger by repeating the same final score 21-16 of first set.
The Belgian champion Yuhan Tan will now lock horns either with Yan Kit Chan of Hong Kong or with the Polish shuttler Przemyslaw Wacha at the judgment day of the event and firework is expected as both players are in top form.
India holds its stake in the Austrian International Challenge 2012 now just in men’s doubles category where top seeded Indian duo Rupesh Kumar-Sanave Thomas is still in race to win glory for their country.
