Parupalli Kashyap trounces Young Woong Ha in Men’s Singles first round at Syed Modi International
India’s top player Parupalli Kashyap lived up to the expectations of his home fans as he played flawless badminton in Men’s Singles first round and trounced Korea’s Young Woong Ha at Syed Modi International India GPG 2012 on Wednesday, December 19, in Lucknow.
The second seeded Kashyap, who is World Number 20 in Men’s Singles category, played to his maximum potential and remained successful in crushing his Korean challenger in a lopsided battle that took 31 minutes of attacking badminton from the local shuttler.
Kashyap was in superb form as he easily and swiftly moved in all corners of the court and remained successful in defeating his opponent in two sets with a dominating margin on the board.
In contrast, the un-seeded Young Woong played good badminton in the opening set but he could not put up strong show and eventually lost the match without winning any game against his Indian challenger.
In the first game, the higher ranked Kashyap played with outstanding control in his strokes and managed to occupy the driving speed from the opening stage.
However, the Korean player also showed glimpses of his brilliance and remained successful in staying close to his Indian rival in the opening half.
Kashyap did not show any sign of confusion as he remained in complete command of rallies until the end of first part.
The aggressive Kashyap remained confident in the arena after the one-minute break as he played in the similar fashion.
Kashyap did not slow down the pace of the game at any stage and remarkable took the first set with a superb 21-18 margin on the board.
In the following game, the second seeded Kashyap played with comfortable speed without leaving any room for Young Woong to find a good rhythm.
Kashyap was impressively fast on court and he remained successful in setting up a superb gap until the one-minute interval.
The attacking and positive play in the ending part of second set assisted Kashyap to wrap up the set with a stunning 21-9 score on the board.
Indian shuttler cheered his home crowd by winning this Men’s Singles first round in straight games with a wonderful margin of 21-18 and 21-9.
