http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 assistant manager, Colin Pascoe, has revealed that the Reds will field their best possible playing-eleven when they take on Anzhi Makhachkala in a Europa League match on Thursday.
The Merseyside outfit, who have so far opted to go with second-strength team in their Europa League games, currently find themselves in a quagmire in the group stages, after being stunned by Udinese in their last match.
The defeat has made the fixture against the Russian outfit all the more important, as a loss on Thursday will bring them at the brink of elimination from the event.
However, with a massive derby game at the weekend also looming over their heads, manager, Brendan Rodgers, will need to take a difficult decision of whether to go with his best team or not.
Currently, Liverpool’s league campaign is also in a state of turmoil and their weekend’s game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 carries as much importance as the one on Thursday.
Keeping in view what is at stake, the manager’s aide unravelled that they plan on fielding their best players against Anzhi.
The 47-year old said that they were wary of their tough upcoming fixtures over the next couple of weeks, but are not willing to risk their position in the second tier European competition.
“We have swapped and changed things around a bit before but, looking at this game, it is very important for us. We will pick a stronger team than we played against Udinese,” he told the reporters.
“We will have to mix things up depending on the games. But we want to win this one. It is as simple as that.”
The Reds were stunned 3-2 by Udinese in their last Europa League game at Anfield. Their task is expected to get only tougher as Guus Hiddink’s unit have only lost once in their 21 matches this season.
Pascoe was not too concerned about the size and form of their opponents, insisting that they need to beat tough teams if they are to make it to the later stages of the competition.
“It’s a strong group but if you want to do well in every competition you have to beat the best teams,” he added.
