Liverpool’s assistant manager, Colin Pascoe, was delighted to see Lucas Leiva return to training last week, and revealed that the midfielder will soon reappear in the team’s fold.
The Brazilian International suffered a thigh injury back in August during the early stages of a league match against Manchester City at Anfield. He was subsequently ruled out for three months by the medics.
The injury only served to further frustrate the 25-year old, who also missed out on a good portion of the prevenient term due to an anterior cruciate ligament problem.
However, it is reported that Lucas has returned to the Melwood training ground after completing his rehabilitation process, and might appear in the Reds league match against Tottenham Hotspur later this month.
Nonetheless, the Anfield number two praised the strong will power and determination of the midfielder during his injury days.
He said that long-term absence from competitive football can have an adverse affect on a player’s morale, something which was not the case with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528.
“It’s fantastic to see Lucas back in training. He’s a good player and it’s nice to get him back,” he told the reporters.
“He’s been unfortunate with a lot of injuries. I know that’s part and parcel of football but it can get you down and it’s nice to see Lucas with a smile on his face.”
Lucas’ truancy and unavailability for such a long time has been dubbed by some as one of the major reasons behind the Reds dismal performance this year. After finishing their last term on eighth place, the club are currently languishing in the bottom half
of the table.
Pascoe claimed that the player’s return to the team’s fold will serve to lift the beleaguered morale of the unit, but admitted he will require time before he gets back to his previous best.
“He’s a popular character. He’s a great lad and was missed around us. We’re glad he’s back with us training and when he’s available for selection, it’ll be great to have him around again,” he added.
The assistant manager also took some time to hail goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672, terming his return to the team as a huge boast.
