Question:

Passat Noise Concern

Can anyone further assist, I have a Passat 2002, 1.9 TDI, I have recently noticed when sitting idling, the car engine gets noiser as its ticking over, it sounds a bit like a vibration?

The oil levels are fine, and fuel consumption is unchanged, I also find when I pull off from idle it does sound like a vibration noise, kind of like something is loose. I have checked the under

of car, and all is fine, did have an accident a few months back when the under plastic ripped off but this has now been replaced, so not sure if this could be causing the problem with any further

loose debris? cant see anything.

I thought exhaust aswell but it is all connected and locked in place, and fuel consumption has not dropped at all, if anything its got slightly better. Cam belt was changed over a year ago so this is all OK...

Any ideas or is it standard for a diesel, anyone have similar issues?

  1. I have been having the same problem with my Jetta. My noise started after I had my exhaust replaced and they put it on wrong. They looked at it and said they fixed it but it still makes the noise and it is not a good noise. I would go get your exhaust checked out but don't go to Bucky's cause they suck.
