Ok so I passed driver's ed and I have a question.....

Do I still need to take my permit (but without testing, just by showing the report card) or should I get something from school saying that i'm approved to drive (as I would on a permit)???

  1. Rules are different in each state.  In Illinois you need a permit to drive regardless of how good your driver ed grade is.  I suspect that is true in all states.  That is how they track beginner drivers.

  2. Drivers Ed is a totally a different thing from taking the actual test. Drivers Ed is a school to teach you how to propertly drive. Once you are ready, you must go to the DMV and sign up. They willl direct you to take a test (computer or written). If you pass the test you get your permit. Next you can sign up to get a drivers test on a different day.
