  1. I believe that they are just numbers  that distinguish the planes from one another .

You can read about these types of planes.

  2. They are both aircraft of the Boeing family.

The Boeing 737, is a twin engined, narrow bodied aircraft used on short to medium range routes.   It is also, currently, the most produced commercial airliner.

The 747 is easily recognised and is commonly called the "jumbo jet".   It has four engines, a wide body, a double deck running from the front of the aircraft along part of it's length & is used on long haul routes.

  3. They are two different types of airplanes, they are apart of the Boeing company, the Boeing 747 commonly called a "Jumbo Jet" is a very large plane, it has 4 engines and can hold up to 500 passengers! the Boeing 737 is another type of plane, it is a single bodied airplane with 2 engines, and it can hold up to 125 passnegers. there are other planes called: 727, 757, 767, and 777. there will soon be a jet called the boeing 787, which will be an extremely nice plane! I have some pictures of the Boeing 747, and the Boeing 737! the top is the 747 the bottom is the 737

  4. just the type of aircraft
