My Husband says there are special circumstances where you can cross a DOUBLE YELLOW Line to pass a slow moving vehicle. I say he is incorrect and you must wait for the line to be broken to LAWFULLY pass. Any experts??? Thanks.

  1. I handle insurance claims in WI where we have lots of Amish. When there is an accident when somebody passes a buggy on a double yellow line the person passing often claims there is a special law like your husband says.

For over 12 years, I have been waiting for somebody passing the buggy to provide me a copy of the special law. I'm still waiting.

In cheeseland there is no such law allowing somebody to pass a buggy on a double yellow line.

The laws pertaining to double yellow lines mean that you aren't allowed to pass ANYTHING. The lines are there to keep people from passing into damgerous areas of roadway.

  2. It's just like a farm tractor. If the vehicle is moving slow, and his off to the side road (Gravel) then you can pass him. BUT, the same rules apply to normal passing. The line must be broken, indicating that you can pass.

  3. no you need to wait until the line breaks--lawfully

    goodluck
