Question:

Passing touchdowns are worth 6 points. Should I take a QB with my 4th overall pick?

Okay in my league our scoring system is:

6 for all touchdowns

-2 for INT's

1 for 25 yds passing

1 for 10 yds rushing

1 for 10 yds receiving.

Roster is:

1 QB

2 WR

2 RB

1 TE

1 WR/RB

So with my 4th overall pick LT and AP are gone. Let's assume Tom Brady is gone to for the experiment. Now i'm asking you to check my math here. Let's say I can take Romo. I'll project his stats at:

4000 yards....250 per game

32 TD (36 last year)....2 per game

16 INT's (19 last year)....1 per game

( these are nice round numbers for a 16 game season)

10 points for yards

12 points for TD

-2 for INT

= 20PTS per game

Steven Jackson/Joseph Addai/Other RB

Let's assume they have these stats:

1600 yards (1300 rushing, 300 rec)......100 yds per game

16 TD's (13 rush, 3 rec)...... 1 per game

10 points for yards

6 for touchdown

(fumbles only deduct if the fumble is lost)

= 16 pts

Owens/Moss

Stats:

1600 rec yards....100 per game

16 TD's.....1 per game

= 16 PTS

Remember that I have the 4th overall pick. Scoring type is head-to-head.

I assume 1,2,3 will go LT,AP, and Brady. Brady doubtful but just being safe. I think the stats are fair. There are 8 total teams. I have 4th pick, 12th pick, and 19 pick. With that, please suggest on if I should take a QB with 4. If not who should I take and who can I get at 12 or 19. If so, what RB or WR can I get at 12 and 19. Thanks!

  1. It depends on who the other guys in your league pick but I think getting a QB with your fourth pick is a good choice.

And as the guy above me says...

    God Luck!

  2. I would not take a QB with four particularly in a league as small as yours.

    God luck.

  3. Yes definitely take Brady because he will throw at least 40 touchdowns this year. No running back is getting close to that.

  4. A (free)projected stats site I often turn to is http://www.fantasysportscentral.com

    Their projected T.D.s thrown are>Brady 35.8,Manning=30.6, Romo=29.4,Brees=26.8,Big Ben=26,C.Palmer=26.....

FSC is not the only source I rely on,but for the most part they are somewhat accurate. You shouldn't be totally screwed if you miss a major run of QBs early.Certainly grab Brady if he falls to you,but not

much seperates the next 5 QBs in my opinion so I'd take the best available player. And don't "reach" for Romo with the 4th pick.

    ~G{}{}d Luck!~

  5. The only QB i would concider would be Brady but for pick four I would go for a RB.  Maybe Westbrook,Addai,Jackson,Barber or even Portis. for pick 12 you might get Peyton, Larry Johnson, Reggie Wayne.  Pick 19 you may get Larry Fitzgerald Willis McGahee or Braylon Edwards.
