Question:

Passport, Birth Certificate, and Vaccines in Saudi Arabia?

It's my understanding that the MMR vaccine is required before the official birth certificate is issued to the parents. Is that true?

We are planning to visit the US when our baby will be around 6 months old in sha' Allah. Do we need to have the baby vaccinated on schedule before getting a passport for the baby? What are the requirements to get a passport for an infant?

Is there any way to avoid having your child vaccinated in Saudi Arabia? Are there homeopathic vaccinations available in Saudi Arabia, and are they recognized by the gov't?

  1. I can provide information once you arrive in the U.S., although do not know about the passport. Perhaps this information will provide similar pointers for informational resources in Saudi Arabia.

Few states in the U.S. require vaccines, despite what some daycares, schools and newspapers misguidedly report. (Usually, you flip over the consent form to waive vaccinations on the basis of personal belief.)

Each state has an Eduction Code to which you may directly refer for state law regarding immunizations. Here is a link, for example, to the California Education Code (http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displa...

I've posted links to other resources below.

I've had the privilege of providing health care to children from beginning to grown-up, and the difference in health is striking - even to unbelieving family members, such as grandparents, and between grandchildren. This is due to receiving homeopathy as a family's primary health care, yet also applies to vaccines.

While a personal, parental choice, it makes a difference that is most evident in homes of children both vaccinated and unvaccinated.

Less-often known, vaccines not only (negatively) impact the health of the person receiving the vaccine, they weaken the health of each subsequent generation.

    I support your parental intelligence.

  2. why don't you want to vaccinate your child?  If it's because of the risk or autism, that isn't proven scientifically at all... nor does it apply to the MMR vaccine!  Just get the shots in your kid(s) and you won't have a problem!

  3. Google the U.S. State Department for information.

  4. im saudi-American and when my 4yr old was around 5months the first time I traveled to US.. I dont recall anyone asking for her medical records..

though however SaudiArabia pediatricians follow the US standard for vaccinations... and some people do neglect or for some other reason dont vaccinate their children.. They are however required to have the standard set of shots before entering school starting in kindergarten.. And the government does NOT recognize homeopathic vaccines as legitimate ones for things like school etc...

But back to your original question.. Just contact the embassy and ask them what are the rules for getting passports/birth certificates.. .. And I know its stressful to worry about.. I worried that my child would be the one is  million that has an adverse reaction to the vaccines.. she would be sterile, or make her autistic etc... but I trusted in God and went ahead.. She is a fine happy healthy child... Dont worry.. its far better to be safe and have them vaccinated against the deseases than to allow them to get one.. Especially if you are travelling internationally, you dont know who you will bring your baby in contact with.. be safe!   and may God be with you! ^_^
