Passport-Additional documents

Question

I applied for a passport about a month ago, and just a few days ago I got a letter in the mail saying they needed additional information. Every address I lived at, every school I went to, basically every minute personal detail of my life. My question is did anyone else have to fill out additional information for their passports. I gave all the documentation that was needed so I don't know why if they wanted this to begin with they didn't ask for it when I applied for my passport.

I just had the same thing happen to me. I called and asked a lady that worked there and she said its because of the area where I live (AZ) and because of 9/11. They said they are worried about identity theft.  But I agree, they should have just asked to include additional information at the beginning since I had to make an appointment to even get my passport application sent in at a USPS.  Its a bit ridiculous to have to give them your whole life story when you have a valid birth certificate and drivers license!

Any idea how long it took to get your passport after sending in the additional information? I just faxed mine today.
