Passport -Goverments knowledge? If i have lost my passport does the goverment have records of when i left?

ok I am about to go seek a lawyer for a personal issue nothing serious really. I dont have my passports from when I was a child or up to 3years ago. I need to proof that I was not in care of a person who was doing benefit fraud still claiming money for me when I was in usa. Is there anyway that the goverment keep records or customs know when you left and re-entered the country???

    It would appear that they do not keep records, something that I find hard to believe.  Contact the state department at the link below.
