Question:

Passport Processing?

I applied for my passport March 22, 2008 at the post office by my house. I did it by regular routine and paid $75, $40(execution and pic). I recenty got a letter in the mail that said they need $20 more for further processing, which is strange because none of my friends had to pay extra. Can someone tell me what to do?

  1. As far as I know passports are $96.00 including all fees, minus the cost for passport photos of course.

  2. I've never heard of having to pay more.

The standard fee is $75 plus $25 processing.  I'm wondering if perhaps the post office charged a separate, higher fee and didn't forward enough to the State Department.
