I need a passport for my honeymoon (we are going to Europe). How do I go about this...do I put my current last name on and get it changed when I get back? Or will they let me get one with my married name before the wedding even happens? How does this work?

  1. change the name later :) congrats :))))

  2. there is no need to change your last name now.

apply for a passaport with your current last name and next time you renew it change it if you want.

a passaport does not confirm you are married (you could be brother and sister). if you need to prove that you are married, bring with you your marriage certificate.

    have a happy life together!

  3. My daughter-in-law just went through this.  In order for her to have her passport in time for her honeymoon, she had to apply before she was married.  The passport office wouldn't allow her to use her 'married' name because she wasn't yet married. (makes perfect sense).   She used the passport with her maiden name and took her marriage certificate as well.

Now comes the aggravating part.  After she got home, she wanted to get the name on her passport changed and they wouldn't do it for her.  She was told she'd have to re-apply AND pay the full cost for a new passport.
