Passport Question...?

Can I get a passport now even if I'm not planning on going to Europe until next year? The reason I want to go ahead and get one, because the opportunity may arise that I get to go sooner, and if it does come I want to be able to go. Thanks for the help!

  1. You can go to the site below to read all instructions, see list of documents you will need, print out the forms to fill out.  It is currently taking about 4 weeks to get a passport..and you are wise to go ahead and get one.  You do not need to fill out the part about your trip plans...just leave it blank.

  2. You can fill out a form you download from the State Dept. website. It asked me for my next trip. I told them my wife and I were planning to go to Europe even though it wasn't definite.

  3. Your US passport is good for 10 years, so yes, you can get a passport anytime you want.  Its better to get it now, because it can take some time for the State Department to get back to you when you apply.

(I'm assuming you're in the US, and are over the age of 18)
