  1. Contact the Department of Births Deaths and Marriages on Collins St (near the corner of Spencer) and they will be able to help you.

  2. If your parents are both deceased, you should have copies of their Death Certificates. Take them to the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in their birth state/s and you should be able to get a birth certificate.

  3. You will only need to apply for their death certificates at the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Collins St Melbourne, because the death certificate states where they were born, therefore applying for their birth certificate is just a waste of time and money unless you want these for sentimental value.

Another acceptable alternative, but you will have to check, might be a statutory declaration made by you and one or two other living relatives.

  4. Maybe try to ring the Australian Gov. Passport office, should be number on application forms. Or try Aust embassy. Another suggestion would be the Births and Deaths Dept, any of these should be able to give you correct info on what to do. Most Gov. Depts are listed in the front of any phone book.

    Good luck

  5. You may need to get their birth/death certificate to prove their citizenship. See what kind of papers you have on them and see if that works.

If anything, go to your passport office and ask! It doesn't hurt!!

Here is the e-mail address you could write to:

    passports.australia@dfat.gov.au

    Good luck!!!

  6. Apply for a copy of their birth certificates in the State in which they were born.  State birth, death and marriage offices are listed in all phone directories.  You'll have to pay for these copies and prices vary from state to state.

You might also want to contact the Passport Office for their advice as, due to your circumstances, there might be a way around this.
