Passport cancelled without prejudice by German consulate? What does it mean?

The visa scrutinising officer felt my papers were more related to work while the application was for business .

This is because I was intending to travel to my Indian company's new acquistion in Germany.

The passport has been stamped Cancelled without Prejudice but the without has been struck off in pen with a big cross .All this appears on the page where my Indian passport also has a stamping showing the date , number of the visa application . The covering letter says no reasons need to be given and cites SEc 77Para 2 of the German residence act.

I understand that "Cancelled without prejudice " means no fraud or illegal activity.

But the manually crossed is what I fail to understand.

Passport cancelled or visa refused? Normally passport is not cancelled by consulates.

Governments who issue passports have the authority to revoke them.

This sounds like a passport was revoked and that there will be no further investigation or charge.

if it was Indian passport they don't have the right! they can only reject the visa! if it was German there must be a reason. ask them!

What appears is they have cancelled is the German Visa (within their rights for an foreign national). The passport is still valid for other travel (although you might find it a bit embarassing to travel with a cancelled visa).

Cancelled without Prejudice. The meaning is a bit broad with me. That can mean also that didn't cancel it because you didn't have blond hair and blue eyes. It sounds like they are trying to convey that if questioned they can provide a valid reason as to why it was cancelled. Try going to the German embassy and requesting to look at a copy of the German Act.

The way they have cancelled it (and your information provided) seems to indicate that you applied for the wrong visa and it was not noticed until after ithe visa was provided. They cancelled it manuelly (on the passport) and electronically (on their databases). They are not allowed to rip out a page (that would be illegal).
